Gas Turbine Engine Test Cells

Jet Engine Test Cell Design

JET ENGINE TEST CELLS,
STANDS AND FACILITIES

Since 1978, EDF Inc. has been a pioneer in the design of cutting-edge jet engine test cells and jet engine test stands, completing over 10,000 projects related to the testing of Gas Turbine Engines.

For each project, the EDF team takes on the overall engineering, design, and drafting of major hardware assemblies and sub-assemblies, specializing in jet engine test cell design. EDF also provides procurement drawings and specifications, overseeing construction management during assembly and installation. Detailed information about some of our turbine engine test cell design projects is available in our portfolio section.

The technical challenges of jet engine test cell design require extensive experience with performance characteristics and logistics of usage. Our expertise spans the fabrication process, assembly and installation challenges, harsh acoustic environments, vibration, temperature, pressure, and airflow issues. We also focus on minimizing long-term maintenance and operational costs, extending the life of aircraft engine test equipment and facilities.

Our extensive experience includes Military, Commercial, and Industrial Gas Turbine Engine Test Cells and Jet Engine Test Stands, covering:

  • TurboShaft test beds with Water or Air brake Dynometers, Torque Measurement, and cooling systems
  • TurboProp, TurboJet, and TurboFan Thrust Measurement Stands
  • Inlet Flow, Distortion, Heating, Pressure Increase/Decrease, Bird Ice Sand Ingestion, FOD Screens, Nacelles, Cowlings, Airfoil Shapes, Bellmouths, and instrumented inlets
